ARTIST BIO
My paintings are primarily distorted pointillist portraits on both panel and paper. Playing with scale, my works range in size from an M&M to ten feet tall. My paintings reference my love for the humorously disturbing details of both the human psyche and anatomy. Up close, the paintings read as expressionist influenced abstractions, but from a distance the paintings come to life as playful characters. Rather than being portraits of real people, most of my paintings borrow features from multiple sources which creates an entirely new yet familiar face within each piece.
I was born in Mesa, Arizona and grew up in Phoenix until moving to San Francisco in 2007 to attend SFAI. I was making work from my studio in Oakland, California until relocating in 2015 to Chicago, Illinois. I’m looking forward to returning to the Sonoran Desert in 2019 and continuing my painting and exhibition work.
